Our Mission is Simple: to Encourage People to Know, Share, and Live Their Best Narrative.

Interested in Sharing your story? We'd love to hear it!We are currently recording podcast sessions and would welcome your application.
It was the fall of 2018 and I had hired Tim (now co-founder of Narrative) to do some business consulting with me on a telecom business I owned at the time. We looked at processes and organizational chart, cash flow and operational systems, market and strategy, and so much more. But it was the simplest thing that had the most impact. When working on the mission and vision for the company he said:“Steve, you first have to know your own personal mission and vision before you can make one for the company. What is yours?”It actually hit me like a ton of bricks! I had no clue.Over the next few weeks I spent a lot of time contemplating that and realized my personal mission was to know what matters, share it with others, and live free.It was at this point that Tim and I started talking about this Narrative concept. We realized that the choices that we make – family, business, financial, career, religious, relationships – everything was based on stories. Many of these stories were scripts that we hadn’t written. We were just following along. We didn’t proofread, edit, or adapt them – just blindly followed them. Crazy!Shortly after that I sold that business and moved on to other career opportunities that were more conducive to investing time in my family and the things that were personally important to me.At the same time I continued to have this calling to create something that would help others understand the stories and narratives that shape their lives. Tim and I became good friends and met together weekly or at least every other week for the last five years!Over the years we’ve both promoted the Narrative concept individually in our own lives, with friends and small groups, in coaching and leadership sessions, and more! This is the start of our Narrative community.Last year (2022) I began writing on LinkedIn everyday with the heading of each post:“Chapter 2022, Page __”Basically the idea is you have 365 pages (days) in each chapter (year) to tell your story. My goal was to tell a more authentic story on LinkedIn. Not just work and career but also family, thoughts on life, humor, and even The Office quotes. The response from my network was phenomenal!1) My network and influence grew rapidly.
2) There was more engagement. People actually liked and commented.
3) Every time I saw people face to face they raved about my LinkedIn content. Tons of them that I never even saw liking or commenting on my posts but they were being impacted by it.So at the end of 2022 I knew it was time. The LinkedIn experiment was another confirmation that this matters and it’s time to take it to the next level. Our stories are just the start. Narrative podcast is just the beginning of what we offer. We can walk with you as you craft the narrative of your life.
